I’m a mixed media artist working primarily in acrylic, encaustic collage, and digital art. // My paintings are abstract expressive pieces that explore storytelling through gestural mark-making, kinetic palettes and careful layer structuring. I work toward transferring a charged, dynamic energy with stages of capture, departure, pause and revisit. // My collages often originate as digital art composites – merging industrial imagery, nature scenes, and graphics/text. Printed in layers and fused with encaustic, these works can be 10+ layers deep of wax, rice paper and mixed-media. I love the handcrafting process of manipulating encaustic to create levels of translucency.
_______________I've lived throughout the US in small towns, large cities and rural countrysides – including NYC, SF Bay, Scranton and Raleigh/Durham. Visual and conceptual references come from experiences across these diverse communities. My first art studio was a shared space in DUMBO Brooklyn, and I currently work out of my home studio in the Raleigh/Durham area. // My work in the fine arts field includes roles as a studio artist for The Metropolitan Museum and Christie’s, and as the lead assistant to a corporate art consultant in Manhattan. I have a BFA in Illustration, and a career creating digital art for clients including Apple, Google and global advertising agencies. My work has been exhibited nationally in galleries and museums, and is in private and permanent collections.
